SAFETY OFFICER

The Safety, Health & Environmental Officer is accountable for the protection of employer and employee’s health and safety and environment by making sure risks in the workplace are properly controlled and to ensure employers comply with all aspects of health and Safety and environmental applicable legal and other requirements. The Safety, Health & Environmental Officer should have a proven track record of HSE system implementations and is accountable for the maintenance and continual improvement of the ISO 14001 :2015 and ISO 45001:2018 management system, compliance to Bridgestone global standards and to report the performance of the system to Oranjemund Branch Manager.

The workplace for the role is at the Quality Tyres Namibia - Oranjemund Branch however frequent travel is required to    sites within Southern Namibia

Key Performance Area

  • Comply to the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 and National Environmental Management Act 107 of 1998
  • Ensure that HSE operational standards are established, implemented, maintained and address the areas of occupational, environmental and quality risk.
  • Ensure that incident/accident reporting is adequate and effective in addressing risk and adequate in terminating or reducing the exposed risk with COIDA management.
  • Coordinate the identification of significant environmental impacts, Occupational Safety and Health Risk’s, Quality defects, and examine corporate activities to establish where and how improvements can be made and ensure compliance with HSE legislation and other requirements across the organization.
  • Comply to ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018
  • Comply to Bridgestone Europe and Japan standards for Retail Equity Stores and LSCM
  • Adhere to CO'V’ID-10 protocols and management.
  • Coordinate HSE activities and report on the performance
  • Develop, implement and monitor HSE strategies, policies and programmes that promote better ways to ensure the success of the organization for all stakeholders.
  • Coordinate the management of continuous improvement within the HSE organization by ensuring that operational standards are established, implemented, and maintained and that rigorous processes continually improving the provision of service, quality of process and product, and the mitigation safety, health and environmental risk are followed.
  • Review the HSE systems and operations, carrying out HSE audits and assessments, identifying and effectively resolving HSE non-conformities and acting as agent of change.
  • Advise in the selection of skills and education programmes for employees at all levels and affirm that the workforce recognize their own contributions to improved HSE performance.
  • Assist at branch with sales.
  • Conduct training to staff.
  • Conduct inspections related to MPI Testing.

Experience & Education

      • Relevant Degree in Health Safety and Environment
      • In-depth working knowledge of Microsoft Systems and data capturing
      • Very strong Retail Network Management and Development experience in the retail industry
      • Experience in the mining industry (Namdeb HSE Experience will be to an advantage)
      • At least 3+ years Safety, Environment and Health work experience
