All that Bridgestone was, is, and always will be comes directly from our founder. His words – “the greater one’s contribution to society the more one’s business will grow” – are upheld in both our essence and our commitment.

The Bridgestone Essence is our corporate philosophy. The Bridgestone Group's mission is based on the words of its founder: "Serving Society with Superior Quality." To fulfil this mission, Bridgestone Group has used the concept of "foundation".  This is a collection of behaviours the business – and those within it –follow to fulfil our mission. Those are: integrity and teamwork, creative pioneering, decision-making based on verified on-site observations, and decisive action after thorough planning.

A guiding principle of our corporate culture is that everyone at Bridgestone can and should contribute their own ideas and voice their opinions. To do so, we create a space and work environment in which everyone can contribute and unleash their creative potential. Everyone needs to demonstrate ownership, courage and agility.

Ownership means we take responsibility for our team and our results, and motivate and inspire colleagues to achieve our goals. We encourage our colleagues to give feedback and use it to improve leadership skills and the effectiveness of our organization. We support our colleagues when they ask for help. Finally, agility means changing and adapting quickly. We accept changes, identify and courageously express ourselves to future possibilities. What's important to us is that we let action follow our words.

“Our essence” as outlined above is about how we act. “Our Way to Serve” is the commitment we uphold to society. As a global leader in mobility, we have a responsibility to make the world a better place for future generations. And this falls into three key areas:

Enhancing mobility is our commitment to making mobility smarter, safer, more accessible and more sustainable through advanced technologies and solutions. We also support our communities and enhance the ways people live, learn and work. And finally, we have a huge responsibility to ensure a healthy environment for current and future generations. Bridgestone is making significant inroads into cutting the CO2 emissions of our business and customers, and sustainability in our sourcing of natural resources is also a big priority.
