Job purpose


Playing an integral role in the Supply Chain Management team the Logistics Operation Managers  will lead the logistics activities for Bridgestone in UK & Ireland. To manage the logistics team to ensure superior service at optimal costs for Bridgestone’s customers and internal stakeholders.   


Main responsibilities


  • Manage all UK & IE logistics agreements & performance with service providers to ensure continual excellent performance at optimum cost.  Scope includes several warehouses across the geographical markets serving Replacement & Original Equipment customers.
  • Ensure all operational processes are in place and continually improved to meet customer needs.
  • Responsible for the planning, proposal, execution and adherence to logistics spend for UK & Ireland.
  • Prepare & analyse information relating to logistics activities in the region.  Oversee reconciliation of inventory discrepancies and additional costs incurred with team and logistics providers.  Conduct analysis and PDCA methodology on service levels and key metric performance.
  • Manage, coach & develop a small team of logistic coordinators responsible for day-to-day execution of logistics services.
  • Work closely with supply planning and customer service teams to ensure resource is in place to manage operational volumes and throughput.  Ensure robust communication channels are maintained for impacted stakeholders.
  • Lead the coordination of all necessary import and customs clearance activities, either directly or with customs clearance agents.  Ensure team members are working together to manage risks of demurrage, service failure, or other events impacting customer or financial performance.
  • Propose, construct, and implement opportunities for innovation and efficiency to the supply chain operation as a whole.
  • Lead and/or participate in supply chain projects with various stakeholders (logistics service providers customs agent, regional management team, internal teammates, etc.)




  • Ability to influence and communicate effectively across various parts of an organisation.  Strong ability to negotiate with service suppliers at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills; ability to cope with various and changing customer demands.
  • Highly numerate with ability to analyse and interpret data to improve operations.  Ability to synthesise and communicate outcomes of analysis clearly and effectively. 
  • Systems literate preferably with working knowledge of SAP, Warehouse Management Systems, Track & Trace tools.  Advanced XLS, SQL experience desired.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changes when job demands it.


Preferred Experience


  • Supply Chain or Business related Master’s degree. 
  • 5+ years of supply chain experience with progressing management roles.
  • Direct experience with service provider contract negotiation and operations.
  • Advanced XLS, SQL experience preferred.
  • Direct experience with business transformations and change management programmes. 
  • Experience working across functional teams and countries.  Experience with matrix organisations and managing functions across countries.
  • Working directly within automotive industry or similar
