Job Purpose
Joining a dynamic and motivated materials development team, the R&D materials researcher will lead efforts to characterize and define the mechanism of new raw materials to be applied to the future Bridgestone products.
The candidate will play a key role in a technical work of a specialized nature. Purpose of the research is to investigate how raw materials characteristics affects rubber compounds properties. The activity deals with setting of design of experiments, extensive chemical analysis and mechanical characterization of rubber compounds, data analysis and technical report preparation.
Core Responsibility & Working relationship
- Pro-active participation to laboratory activities.
- Design of experiments driven by both theoretical understanding of the problem and by experimental evidence.
- Raw materials chemicals analysis and development of related characterization techniques.
- Mechanical and chemical rubber compound characterization (e.g. DMTA, vulcanization of compounds, etc).
- Data analysis and technical report preparation.
- Work effectively with technicians, R&D researchers and Management of Bridgestone EMIA Technical Center, actively taking part to R&D cross-functional teams.
- Collaborate with Bridgestone Corporate Functions, Bridgestone America and Bridgestone Japan and Bridgestone Europe manufacturing plants.
Job requirements
- Master’s Degree in Materials Engineering, Chemical engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, or any other related field of study.
- Materials science knowledge in polymer and elastomers field, with specific focus on compatibility/miscibility between ingredients.
- Laboratory experience in the field of physico-chmical characterization of materials.
- Goal-oriented, motivated, creative and collaborative. Able to work within diverse teams, with strong communications skills, capable to explain complex concepts in a smart way.
- Ability to work under time pressure, independence, with problem solving approach.
- Digital mindset: solid knowledge of MS Office package.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
