Job purpose
To manage, and ensure execution of all instrumentation activities which includes calibration, maintenance activities through artisans, operations and service providers. To manage all line and services availability, safety adherence and maintenance budget.
Responsibilities
- Effectively delegate any maintenance issues to be resolved on all shifts and execute small and improvement projects
- Must ensure that all Instruments on machines are available for maximum production.
- Eliminating engineering, maintenance and breakdown related losses
- Manage all breakdowns within the manufacturing plant.
- Manage and plan shutdown and maintenance on instrumentation equipment.
- Report and ensure spare availability for instruments.
- Perform calibrations on Instruments and keep record thereof.
- Identify, Initiate and manage small Continuous Improvement projects (Kaizen) and support engineering projects on site
- Adhere to standards, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 and ensure all safety issues are addressed and working according to company safety rules.
- Ability to read P &IDs, Instrumentation and Electrical diagrams inclusive of device manuals
- Strong knowledge and programming of Allen Bradley PLCs and FT View SE/ME Scada software development of Allen Bradley VSDs (Powerflex Range), Nidec Drives, Yaskawa Drives, Siemens Drives ,Mitsubishi Drives
- Experience in PLC and HMI /SCADA programming
- Setting up of Industrial IT networking (Device Net and Ethernet/IP) experience
- Competence in instrumentation used in highly automated plants including Boilers and auxiliary equipment
- Should exhibit competence in Flow, Temperature ,Level ,Pressure ,Weight Control systems
- Identify and resolve equipment malfunctions, provide support and recommendations for new and existing
- equipment with regards to installations, upgrades and enhancements
- Calibration
- Perform tests and calibrations according to the schedule on the calibration management software in the manufacturing plant.
- Ensure new instrument are added to the calibration database or calibration management software and schedule the calibration interval thereof.
- Ensure calibration and / or test results are logged on the calibration management software and a written copy filed.
- Ensure calibration methods are stipulated in the IB procedures, for any changes to the method changes ensure the changes are logged and updated accordingly.

Education:
- National Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Matric / N3 certificate ( Mathematics and Science)
- Trade Test Certificate
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the electrical field on rotation machinery.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the tyre manufacturing and automotive industry will be an advantage.
