R&D engineer in System Engineering Commercial Product Industrialization & Modularity

 

Job Purpose:

Within the System Engineering organization, the role is responsible for managing industrialization activities across the commercial product portfolio (TBR, AG, and PCT), ensuring strong alignment between R&D, Manufacturing, and Logistics. In line with the department’s mission, all assigned product industrialization activities have to be carried through to mass production release applying lean processes while achieving target product performance and minimizing the impact in Manufacturing environment.

 

Responsibilities:

  • According Lean process & “Well Born Tire” concept, to arrange & manage qualification trials of assigned new commercial product &/or TPA until mass production release, granting requested product performances within the requested timeframe
  • Promote & activate initiatives in favor of manufacturing de-complexity & cost optimization in EMEA plants
  • Materialize Design to modularity at shop floor level in every new product intro.
  • Support on driving Commercial Product industrialization to digitalization Maximizing the adoption of Virtual tools to simplify the actual prototypes manufacturing & qualification.

  • Commercial Tire Development (CTD)
  • Material development (WAMP)
  • Production Plants (Bilbao, BSST, PSM, Brisa, Brits)
  • Logistics (IPL – LSCM)
  • Quality Assurance functions (QM & plant local QS)
  • Central Manufacturing/Engineering division (MTDS & Plant local Engineering functions)
  • Business Unit  (CPM, SALES, RET Tech, RET TSG)

 

 

Qualifications & Experience Required

 

 Education, Master, other certification:

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering (or equivalent) (M)

 

Experience (years):

  • Experience in tire design (or automotive) (NTH)

 

Technical Skills:

General:

  • Project management basic level(M).
  • Problem solving attitude and PDCA mindset(M).
  • Innovation attitude (NTH)

Specific:

  • Tire basics/advanced technical Knowledge (Tire Features, Performances and Mechanics) (NTH).
  • PCT CREO (NTH).
  • Virtual modeling (NTH).
  • MS office (M).
  • Basic knowledge on data management and Statistics (M).

 

Languages Skills:

  • Fluent in English (both written & spoken)

 

Soft/Behavioural Skills:

  • Results oriented, self-motivated, creative and collaborative(M)
  • Agility in learning, in adapting to change and in translating strategies into actionable plans(M)
  • Ability to work within a team and inside a multicultural environment(M)

 

Others

  • Availability to travel (M).
  • Openness to evaluate at proper time on Job rotation within and outside department (NTH).

 

Geographical work site:

The position is based at Bridgestone Technical Center - CastelRomano (Rome), with the possibility of some days of smart working in the working week upon agreement with manager.
