Job purpose
The Health & Safety Advisor – Bridgestone Europe NV/SA leads and manages the development and implementation of all health and safety programs to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all employees on site at all times. The scope includes the Bridgestone EMIA Headquarters as well as the Bridgestone European Education Center, both based in Zaventem.
Main responsibilities:
H&S
- Create awareness within the organization concerning Health & Safety including communication to staff about important Health & Safety issues
- Focus on strong and weak points of the local H&S organization, proposing to local management possible adjustment to reinforce the H&S guidance
- Follow-up and implement the global standards and Corporate programs, site safety procedures ergonomics
- Support data gathering and data analysis to develop leading and lagging indicators to monitor and drive Health and Safety programs
- Support Health and Safety ecosystem and innovation initiatives to promote safety culture across the business and Contractors.
- Develop and implement the annual and global action plans
- Set up and follow up on mandatory activities: year action plans, DRBS, GPP, IDPBW, CPBW, …
- Coordinate external audits with 3rd party bodies and assure compliance to all legal requirements.
- Maintain and enhance the risk assessment process.
- Report on accidents and near misses and initiate preventive actions
- Coordinate the training of First Aiders, Fire Wardens and Evacuation Stewards as well as assure its operability – according to legal obligations
- Coordinate the community of Persons of trust, in collaboration with our psycho-social services IDEWE
- Organize, perform & debrief on evacuation drills, both internally and with external parties like fire brigade
- Chair the local H&S committee
Well-Being
- Define a well-being action plan with the support of IDEWE and in line with the EMIA agenda
- Ensure that health and wellbeing services are consistently promoted and delivered
- Plan for and facilitate the active promotion of health and wellbeing related policies, procedures and systems
- Capture and utilize health and wellbeing data to monitor and report on issues
Environment
- Cooperate with the facility management to develop initiatives that minimize environmental impact (waste management, water consumption, energy efficiency, mobility management…)
- Enhance the awareness on environmental related aspects of Bridgestone Headquarters and Bridgestone European Education Center – Brussels (EUEC-B).
Reporting line
- The Health & Safety Advisor directly reports to the Facilities Manager, dotted line to the HR Manager People Solutions Benelux for all well-being related matters.

Experience
- By preference prevention Advisor level 2 within Belgium or
- Prevention Advisor level 3 with level 2 training planned/to be planned
- Management of mid/large-size projects
Technical & Soft skills
- Technical expertise in H&S and disaster prevention (for Level 2 and 3) in Belgium
- Knowledge of Belgian Health and Safety Management Systems (for Level 2 and 3).
