ABOUT THE ROLE

About the Role

The Financial Control Specialist is responsible for statutory and group reporting for Bridgestone Europe NV (BSEU NV), ensuring compliance with BE GAAP, IFRS, and internal governance standards. The role supports accurate and timely financial closings, drives process improvements, and partners with Shared Service Centers and business teams on a wide range of finance activities.

 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare statutory financial statements for BSEU NV and its branches, ensuring full compliance with BE GAAP and local requirements.

  • Support month-, quarter-, and year-end closing activities under IFRS in close collaboration with the Shared Service Center (SSC).

  • Calculate and process accruals based on input from business units, ensuring alignment with Belgian GAAP, IFRS, and internal policies.

  • Collaborate with SSC teams to reconcile general ledger accounts and promptly resolve discrepancies.

  • Perform financial analysis, reconciliations, and variance explanations to ensure accuracy and transparency.

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and corporate reporting standards.

  • Identify and implement opportunities to streamline and optimize financial closing processes.

  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting cycles.

  • Serve as a point of contact for business teams, providing timely and accurate responses to finance and accounting-related questions.

  • Contribute to finance transformation projects and system enhancements.

  • Drive automation and efficiency improvements within accounting and reporting processes.

 

 

Qualifications & Experience Required

Education:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance or Accounting.

 

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of BE GAAP and preparation of statutory financial statements.

  • Familiarity with IFRS is essential.

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel.

  • Experience using ERP systems, preferably SAP S/4HANA.

  • Experience with Power BI for dashboards and data visualization is a plus.

 

Language Skills:

  • Dutch speaking and fluent in English.

 

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience as a Financial Controller or Accountant.

 

Soft/Behavioral Skills:

  • Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to engage with SSC and business stakeholders.

  • Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to drive efficiencies.

  • Able to work under tight deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.

  • Team-oriented, collaborative approach.
