ABOUT THE ROLE

About the Role

We are looking for an energetic, experienced, pragmatic, and hands-on Privacy Professional or Senior Counsel with strong knowledge and experience in privacy law to join our Bridgestone West (Americas and EMEA) Privacy Team. This role will primarily support business operations in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa while also contributing to the broader Bridgestone West privacy program. The role reports to the Bridgestone West Privacy Officer.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain privacy compliance programs, documentation, procedures, and controls.

  • Provide privacy support for commercial transactions with customers and suppliers across various business units and countries.

  • Advise internal stakeholders on their obligations under GDPR and other applicable data protection laws across EMEA.

  • Deliver training and promote a 'privacy by design' mindset throughout the organization.

  • Advise on data governance, conduct privacy risk and impact assessments, and assist with data breach responses.

  • Collaborate with marketing, HR, procurement, information security, and other functions to enhance the privacy program.

  • Support the documentation of data protection obligations across multiple countries.

 

Qualifications & Experience Required
 

Education & Certifications:

  • Master’s degree in Law or certified privacy credentials (e.g., DPO training, AIPP CIPP or similar).

 

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in privacy compliance and personal data protection, preferably in an in-house legal, IT, or InfoSec environment.

 

Technical & Legal Skills:

  • Deep understanding of GDPR, UK GDPR, and applicable data protection laws across EMEA.

  • Experience in building and maintaining Records of Processing Activities (ROPA).

  • Familiarity with EU Digital Agenda legislation and its practical implementation.

 

Soft/Behavioral Skills:

  • Pragmatic, solution-oriented approach to privacy compliance.

  • Ability to work independently and deliver results.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

  • Strong ability to translate legal/privacy concepts into clear and actionable guidance.
