Job purpose

Holding the Plant Controller role of Bridgestone Lanklaar plant.

Support EMIA Finance, managing director achieving Company’s targets.

Ensure that this objective is achieved in compliance with legal / tax regulations as well as BSEU guidelines and policies. Assure internal controls are in place.

Contribute to optimize company profits through the protection of assets, cash flow generation, keep operating expenses and factory costs under control and within budget.

Manage finance and costs activities in the company, in order to provide to top management with information, tools and results in all Manufacturing operations.

Develop personal skills in order to offer internal and external customers with the highest quality of support and services. Implement most efficient administrative organization.

 

 

Main responsibilities

  • Accountability: Customer/ Client interaction & Business partnership
    • The Plant Controller is a key member of the management team and is the owner of continuous plant financial analysis using facts, data and financial analysis tools to ensure plant profitability is constantly being maximized
    • Provides insight and input to plant manager in managing relationships with cross-business managers on P&L close, review and analysis of information, budget preparation
    • This position is the “financial eyes and ears” of the factory working closely with the Operations Management team to understand, analyze and challenge the operations from a financial perspective
    • Monitors relationships and may work closely with sales, supply chain, and other business/product managers to ensure strategies are accomplished
    • Keep live communication with group finance function (dotted line dependency) to ensure strategic & tactic alignment
       
  • Accountability: Accounting processes & Procedures/ Compliance
    • Actively participates in and provides insight into controls activities related to compliance for internal and external accounting laws. Responsible for onsite coordination of all plant audits
    • Ensures adequate financial controls are in place for all plant financial reporting including inventories and fixed assets
    • Executes internal/external controls (eg. J-SOX requirements)
    • Responsible for local & group accounting (IFRS)

 

  • Accountability:  Analysis & Reporting
    • Ensures all monthly manufacturing variance forecasting and reporting and the annual budget preparation are done accordingly to the expectation.
    • Responsible for extracting plant shop floor data to ensure manufacturing variances are understood and actionable based on the collection and analysis of data.
    • Responsible for accurate product costing and to ensure accurate valuation of inventories.
    • Responsible for bringing financial insight to all plant capital spending requests to ensure accurate financial analysis and appropriate expenditure of funds.
    • Provides guidance in the creation of standard financial and non-financial reports/packages. May assist team in creating moderately complex reports/packages when needed. Interprets and compiles results and key financial measures. Examples of reports: Month-end, Budget requirements, P&L preparation,  Reviews and closing reporting, Corporate Tax, Plant profitability among others.
    • Develops and reviews moderately complex financial models and scenario planning business strategies. Prepares execution plans linked with group strategy
       
  • Accountability: Systems & Data management
    •  Coordinates new set-up and changes in existing financial applications to optimize effectiveness. Communicates with supervisors and accountants, ensuring all activities within their respective teams are being executed timely and effectively
    • May participate in the new set-up process when needed

 

  • Accountability: People, Talent & Resource management  
    • Accountable for direct performance management, talent development, succession planning and engagement.
    • Ensures recruitment, hiring, on-boarding, and development of the finance team Is done effectively.
    • Manages and provides coaching and/or training to team, including coaching Bridgestone core values, personal safety, environmental stewardship and CSR
    • Participates in selection of direct reports and other employees; determines resource need, plans for future workforce needs.

  • Undergraduate Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration

Required capabilities

 

  • Handling multiple concurrent tasks and meeting strict deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills, internally and with clients (English and Dutch is must)
  • Ability to build relationships with colleagues, clients and staff in charge
  • The role might be based anywhere in Belgium or southern Holland, but at least 2 days of work at the plant is required and at least 1-2 days visit to the HQ in Zaventem per month.

 

Experience

  • 8-10+ years’ working experience with min 3 years in plant controlling
  • CMA or MBA preferred
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, local GAAP and good knowledge of tax regulation
  • Experience with ERP financial software (eg. SAP)
  • Demonstrated expertise in MS Office
