The mission


The Procurement Finance Business Partner function should act as an independent entity from within the finance function while contributing to the impact & success of Procurement.


The function focuses on reporting, analyzing and controlling the impact of procurement on the P&L and Balance Sheet (savings & cost avoidance analysis), Raw Materials variance analysis and Raw Material outlook, and on overall reporting, budgeting & analysis and KPI dashboard management. As such Procurement Finance plays a fundamental role in realizing the BSEMEA Procurement vision.


The role of Procurement Financial Control Specialist supports both the EMEA Procurement Organization and EMEA Finance, by providing data, analysis and insights on market dynamics, EMEA procurement performance & assessment of trends & plans, and linking these to the Financial Performance of Bridgestone EMEA.


In this role, the Finance Business Partner provides information to the EMIA procurement organization, EMIA finance and EMIA senior management. The role also interacts with BSJ (GHO offices in Tokyo) where required.


Key Responsibilities and Tasks


Financial Planning & Analysis:

  • PPV analysis, review and reporting for all applicable regions/entities.
  • Follow-up on Updating and tracking of pricing in system.
  • Preparing and presenting monthly Procurement Category Review and Commodity Reports.
  • Develop and manage a process to ensure effective validation of all ongoing Procurement Costs at local Business Units in Income Statement level.
  • Tracking, analysis and reporting of cost reduction initiatives versus Budget/Forecast/Prior-Year.


Budget, Forecasting and Strategic Plans:

  • Responsible for setting and maintaining Standard Costing policy for Business Units and ensuring compliance to same on Material Pricing area.
  • Build business cases and total cost of ownership analysis for procurement projects.
  • Coordinate and complete Budget models based upon agreed volume, pricing, expense assumptions etc.


Cost Analysis

  • Maintaining price forecast and commodity coverage files and analysis of regional spend by category to drive synergies and simplify the procurement sourcing model.
  • Analysis of production and operational efficiencies including a breakdown of all costs by category together with analysis of variances.


Process, Systems & Data:

  • Regularly realizing of projects for functional area.
  • System and process design and development to improve efficiency and effectiveness of all financial, cost and management accounting information within the organization.


Communication, change and stakeholder management:

  • Updating and maintaining issue log and progress
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders in the business, including Regional Procurement & Finance Teams as well as Other Manufacturing areas relevant for this function.


Primary People Management Responsibilities:

  • We expect the role to be a strategic advisor, while able to deliver hands-on results.
  • As such, the role will have a small team of direct reports.
  • The candidates will work along with a large network of people, mostly very experienced to develop the most suitable solutions for our current business challenges. The candidate is also able to guide subject matter experts through our initiatives, mobilize resources for and during a project, optimizing the use of our existing resources and develop less experienced team members.


Required capabilities


Critically important to this position is:

  • Experience in the tire business is a clear plus
  • Experience in manufacturing finance is a must (on-site vs. HQ role only is a plus)
  • The candidate is used to senior management exposure
  • The ability to interact well with a diverse set of team members, external partners, consultants, senior and junior, etc. and adjust to the audience
  • Ability to provide a Helicopter view and attention to dive into details is required
  • The candidate has demonstrated strong leadership in an (finance) operational line-mgmt role and/or heavily exposed Project Management Role, including cross functional projects
  • A continuous improvement mindset (identifying opportunities, proposing solutions and executing corrections)
  • Taking ownership over tasks and processes in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure
  • Listening skills: diverse group of stakeholders to collaborate with
  • Organizational skills: stay focused on different tasks, plan & prioritize to achieve his/her goals and on time delivery of input/feedback to the organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills




  • Master degree in Finance or similar.
  • Experience in international companies (preferred)
  • Manufacturing Finance experience is required
  • Supply chain (w/ warehouse exposure) experience is a strong plus.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP/ IFRS required
  • Experience with SAP preferred
  • Interest in process/system improvements and digitalization journeys are a significant plus
