Job Purpose
The Safety, Health & Environmental Officer is accountable for the protection of employer and employee’s health and safety and environment by making sure risks in the workplace are properly controlled and to ensure employers comply with all aspects of health and Safety and environmental applicable legal and other requirements. The Safety, Health & Environmental Officer should have a proven track record of HSE system implementations and is accountable for the maintenance and continual improvement of the ISO 14001 :2015 and ISO 45001:2018 management system, compliance to Bridgestone global safety standards and to report the performance of the system to the safety Manager.
The workplace for the role is at the Quality Tyres Namibia - Oranjemund Branch however frequent travel is required to sites and branches within Namibia
Responsibilities:
- Comply to the Occupational Health and Safety Act 11 of 2007 and National Environmental Management Act 7 of 2007
- Comply to ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018
- Comply to Bridgestone Europe and Japan standards for Retail Equity Stores and LSCM
- Identify workplace hazards and conduct risk assessments
- Conduct regular workplace inspections and safety audits
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses
- Compile incident reports and recommend corrective and preventative actions
- Ensure timely reporting of incidents and injuries
- Monitor and enforce the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Coordinate safety inductions for employees, contractors, and visitors
- Facilitate safety toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns
- Maintain safety documentation, registers, and records
- Participate in safety committees and management meetings
- Promote a positive safety culture and safe behavior
- Monitor implementation and close-out of corrective actions
- Assist management with legal appointments and compliance requirements
- Support emergency preparedness, drills, and response activities
- Compile weekly/monthly safety reports
- Support HSE office and department initiative
- Perform additional duties assigned by manager

Qualifications & Experience Required
- Grade 12
- SAMTRAC or Certificate qualification in safety management
- Code B driver license
Experience (years):
- In-depth working knowledge of word, excel, power point and data capturing
- Experience in the mining industry (Namdeb HSE Experience will be to an advantage)
- At least 3+ years Safety, Environment and Health work experience
Languages Skills:
- English
- Any spoken local language
Soft/Behavioral Skills:
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation and regulations
- Awareness of workplace ergonomics and manual handling risks
- Understanding of machinery, tools, and equipment safety
- Knowledge of safety reporting and record-keeping systems
