Job Title 

Training & Development Coordinator

The Person 

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced on-mine Site Tyre Superintendent to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive training programs that enhance employee skills, knowledge, and performance.

 

This role will work closely with various departments to identify training needs, implement training programs and initiatives and manage all training activities align with organizational goals

Qualifications, Skills,

Experience & Essential Requirements

Qualifications:

  • High School Certificate.
  • Related industry field certificates or relevant experience.

 

Preferred:

Diploma or Bachelor’s degree.

Experience in the Off The Road Tyre Services industry.

 

Skills & Experience:

 

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the mining sector and/or training and development sector, preferably in a managerial role.
  • Proven experience developing, implementation and managing of mining-specific training programs.
  • Strong understanding of mining safety regulations and adult learning principles.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate diverse teams.
  • Proficiency in learning management systems (LMS) and other training technologies/systems relevant to the mining sector.
  • Ability to analyze data and assess training effectiveness.

Essential Requirements:

 

  • The candidate must have excellent proficiency in both French and English.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and professionally in both languages, both verbally and in writing.
  • The candidate must be willing and able to undertake extensive travel across the African continent to render tyre management training on mining operations.

Flexibility to adapt to different time zones, cultural environments, and local conditions is essential.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

 

  • Identify and assess future and current training needs through job analysis, career paths, annual performance appraisals and consultation with line managers.
  • Draw an overall or individualized training and development plan that addresses needs and expectations.
  • Deploy a wide variety of training methods.
  • Conduct effective induction and orientation sessions.
  • Monitor and evaluate training program’s effectiveness, success and report on them.
  • Manage training budget.
  • Provide opportunities for ongoing development. 
  • Resolve any specific problems and tailor training programs as necessary.
  • Maintain a keen understanding of training trends, developments and best practices.
  • Conduct vocational assessments, both internal and external in accordance with Otraco Training Standards and relevant governing regulations, implement assessment plans and guidelines to ascertain competency of clients/employees.
  • Participate in the validation and moderation of assessment tools/plans as directed.
  • Assist in the design, development and maintenance of training material and documents.
  • Forecast, plan, prepare and submit monthly Training Plans to the relevant Line Manager.
  • Monitor and review training matrix to ensure trainees complete training within acceptable timeframe.
  • Maintain personal development through reading industry journals or shadowing or working closely with other trainers and assessors.

 

Safety

  • Work safely and follow Occupational Health and Safety Procedures.
  • Report hazards, unsafe work conditions and equipment.
  • Report incidents and assist in the investigation and implementation of follow up actions that may be identified.
  • Perform Job Hazard Analysis and take control actions to reduce the risk of injury or damage to equipment.
  • Comply with site emergency evacuation procedures.
  • Contribute to meetings and inspections in order to improve safety in the workplace.
  • Create and implement safety training programs that address the unique hazards of mining operations, ensuring employees understand safe work practices and compliance requirements.
  • Develop comprehensive safety induction programs for new hires, covering essential topics such as personal protective equipment (PPE), emergency procedures, and site-specific safety protocols.
  • Conduct regular refresher courses and updates on safety practices, equipment operation, and risk management to reinforce a culture of safety among all employees.
  • Assess the effectiveness of safety training programs through feedback, observations, and safety performance metrics, adjusting as necessary to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Partner with safety officers and compliance teams to ensure that training content is aligned with regulatory standards and addresses any emerging safety concerns.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety training sessions, participant attendance, and assessment outcomes to ensure compliance and facilitate continuous improvement.
