Job Purpose

Moving from the Bridgestone Global Environmental Mission Statement and Long term Vision, the EMIA Environment function support the business unit to develop road map to create, keep and enhance environmental mindset and values in all phases of our value chain, working both with our employees and engaging our customers and suppliers.

Our function is one of the pillar of Sustainability Office and play a key role in the Global Environmental Working Group, Carbon Neutral Working Group bringing our expertise in setting global/regional environmental strategy and managing main environmental issues.

Under the supervision and coordination of the Head of BSEMIA Environment, the LCA & Carbon Footprint Specialist will join the Environmental Team, based in Rome, supporting the relevant depts. in all the activities related to assessment of the environmental impacts of Bridgestone’s products and services along their whole life cycle, by means of the Life Cycle Assessment approach.

Additionally, with the specific focus on CO2, will take care to coordinate and collect info to calculate Carbon Footprint of the organization

Educational/Professional Background:

  • University degree (Master's Degree) in technical and scientific studies concerning environment, energy and chemistry (such as, environmental engineering, chemistry engineering, environmental science, etc.). Studied subjects should include: environmental science, environmental engineering, Life Cycle Assessment, environmental law and policy, ecology, economics, chemical science, environmental technologies (for water, air, soil,…).
  • Master on LCA is a plus
  • Minimum 2-3 years of professional/academic experience required in Life Cycle Assessment studies.
  • Experience in tyre industry is a plus

Main accountabilities

  • Reply to customer’s (especially  car manufactures companies) requests on product LCA, providing specific calculation, attending to meeting with specialists
  • Attend to LCA Task Forces in industrial association (ETRMA) and WBCSD TIP (Tyre Industry Project) and follow-up on expected deliverables
  • Support internal stakeholders in the interpretation of external requirements in terms of CO2 footprint
  • Collect, monitor and track CO2 footprint across the Region according to International and Corporate Standards
  • Report CO2 calculation and future estimation as per Corporate Requirements
  • Support Company Carbon reduction strategy, identify and promote opportunities for improvement
  • Periodical alignment with internal stakeholders to drive Carbon neutrality journey
  • Calculate Organizational Environmental Footprint (OEF)
  • Support in reporting on climate disclosure ESG standards (TCFD, Carbon Footprint. CDP Climate Change, Ecovadis)
  • Support Carbon offsetting strategy

Requested Technical Skills

  • Comprehensive and proved knowledge about Life Cycle Assessment, related standards and best practices
  • Comprehensive and proved command of  Life Cycle Assessment Software (e.g. SimaPro, GaBi)
  • Good Knowledge of CDP Climate Change, GHG protocol, IEA, IPCC scenarios
  • Knowledge of Science Based Target principles and criteria for application
  • Good knowledge of ETS Directive and pertinent mechanisms
  • Good knowledge of standard reporting (e.g. GRI)
  • Knowledge of Green Deal main pillars and related Directives
  • Good Knowledge of Organization Environmental Footprint (OEF) Guide and applications
  • Good knowledge of environmental chemistry and engineering
  • Good knowledge of the principles of environmental law and policy
  • Very good knowledge of MS Office and database management
  • Fluent written and spoken english, other languages will be a plus


  • Past experience in LCA for tyre sector
  • Knowledge of UL Product Category Rule for Tyres
