POSITION DESCRIPTION

Job purpose:

In Bridgestone, we make safety a business value. Creating a safe working place for all is everyone’s responsibility. Moving from our Corporate Safety Mission Statement, our function supports the business units to develop road maps to create safety in each working place.

An EMEA Health and Safety Engineer operates in various business environment (R&D, logistic, manufacturing, Retail, Sales) and geographical Regions, needs to be agile and open to cooperation with Teammates with different culture and background.

She / He will be part of a Team based in Rome with multidisciplinary skills, in a highly collaborative group in which each member brings his/her capabilities to contribute to the group scope.

She / He will promote the enhancement of the Health and Safety in our Operations through:

  • Continuous improvement, leveraging on the Deming cycle applied to the Management of Health and Safety, in a highly digitalized environment.
  • Injection of specific capabilities in the Local/Regional Teams
  • Performance of internal audits based on various compliance schemes or ISO45001 standard.
  • Cooperation to the deployment of Health Management strategy, included Chemicals management.

The Role needs to quickly understand the work environment, the different typologies of risks and the maturity of the safety culture in place, to leverage on different techniques and tools to promote Health and Safety.

Accountabilities:

  • Support the development of EMEA Health and Safety Standards.
  • Support data gathering and data analysis to develop leading and lagging indicators to monitor and drive Health and Safety programs.
  • Promote Health and Safety Management System across the entire value chain (R&D, Logistic, Manufacturing, Retread, Sales co. and Shops) and EMEA Regions (Europe, Africa, Middle East, Russia, India).
  • Perform audits in different work environment across EMEA.
  • Support Health and Safety ecosystem and innovation initiatives to promote safety culture across the business and Contractors.
  • Support the development of multimedia products to promote health and safety programs.
  • Support the Chemicals Management, including Risk Assessment and Material Safety Data Sheet handling.

 

Educational Background:

University Degree in Chemical Engineering and/or Health & Safety or equivalent.

Technical & soft skills:

  • knowledge of Health and Safety Management Systems based on PDCA cycle.
  • Knowledge of ISO45001 standard.
  • Audit techniques
  • H&S European Regulatory framework
  • Industrial Hygiene and Chemicals.
  • Behavioral Based Safety
  • Collaboration and Teamwork

Languages:

Fluency in written and spoken English
