Job Purpose

Joining a dynamic and motivated materials innovation development team, the R&D materials researcher will lead efforts to design, develop and validate innovative materials for the future Bridgestone products.

The candidate will play a key role in the development of new polymers & fillers through his/her solid knowledge on Material Science, covering a wide range of activities from laboratory-based chemical/physical characterization, up-to prototype evaluation.

Core Responsibility & Working relationship

  • Design, development and validation of new polymers/filler materials providing proposals, solutions and original ideas along with the Raw Material Development team and implementing new solutions in the daily activities.
  • Chemical / Physical techniques trough new methodology development.
  • Support and collaborate with the R&D laboratory for implementation of most advanced

  • Promote Open Innovation projects with Bridgestone partners (suppliers, startups, research associates) & academia and launch new technologies.
  • Work effectively with R&D researchers, staff, technicians, and management of Bridgestone EMIA Technical Center, actively taking part to R&D cross-functional teams.
  • Collaborate with Bridgestone Corporate Functions, Bridgestone America and Bridgestone Japan and Bridgestone Europe manufacturing plants.
  • To represent Bridgestone in conference, workshops with external partners.

Job requirements

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or any other related field of study.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with background in polymer/filler chemistry and  with experience in chemical/polymer industry.
  • Goal-oriented, motivated, creative and collaborative. Able to work within teams with strong communications skills.
  • Digital mindset: solid knowledge of digital software as Matlab, Python.
  • Skills in machine learning, big data analytics, computer vision and material simulation is preferable.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
