About the Role
Job Purpose
The ideal candidate will be responsible for facilitating training and conducting assessments and moderation activities that strengthen employee competence, performance, and safe work practices. The role will work closely with line managers and operational teams to identify training needs, deliver training interventions, assess employee competence, and ensure training activities align with organisational goals and Otraco Training Standards. The scope includes the ongoing verification of completed training, moderation of assessments conducted as part of current training, and verification that learning is correctly applied on the job. This is a roaming function requiring regular travel between Otraco operations and customer mining sites to provide training, assessment, moderation, verification, and operational support.

Responsibilities:
- Identify and assess current and future training needs through job analysis, career paths, appraisals, and consultations with line managers.
- Facilitate planned training interventions across Otraco operations and customer mining sites.
- Conduct assessments in accordance with approved assessment instruments, Otraco Training Standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Moderate assessments completed during current training to confirm that assessment decisions are fair, valid, reliable, and consistent.
- Conduct Quality control Checks and assessments and provide comprehensive feedback report
- Conduct ongoing verification of completed training and maintain auditable training, assessment, moderation, and verification records.
- Conduct Planned Task Observations
- Verify the application of learning on the job through workplace observation, practical verification, and engagement with line management.
- Provide feedback on competence gaps and recommend coaching, refresher training, reassessment, or corrective development actions where required.
- Operate as a roaming resource and travel between sites according to operational and training priorities.
- Develop overall or individualized training and development plans that address organizational and employee needs.
- Use a variety of effective training methods, including inductions, orientations, and ongoing development opportunities.
- Monitor, evaluate, and report on the effectiveness and success of training programs.
- Conduct vocational assessments in line with Otraco Training Standards and regulatory requirements to determine employee competency.
- Design, develop, and maintain up-to-date training materials and documentation.
- Prepare and submit monthly training plans, while monitoring training progress to ensure completion within required timeframes.
- Stay informed about industry training trends, best practices, and maintain personal development through continuous learning and collaboration.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate safety training programs, including inductions and refresher courses, to promote compliance and safe work practices in mining environments.
- Ensure workplace safety by reporting hazards, conducting risk analyses, maintaining safety training records, and collaborating with safety officers to meet regulatory standards.

Qualifications & Experience Required
Education, Master, other certification:
- Grade 12 National Senior Certificate.
- A valid and appropriate light vehicle driver’s license (South African Code 08).
- Related industry field certificates or relevant experience.
- Facilitator, Assessor and Moderator Certification.
- Experience in the Off the Road Tyre Services industry.
Experience (years):
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the mining sector and/or training and development sector, preferably in a managerial role.
Practical experience in facilitation, workplace assessment, assessment moderation, and post-training workplace verification.
- Proven experience developing, implementation and managing of mining-specific training programs.
Skills:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate diverse teams.
- Proficiency in learning management systems (LMS) and other training technologies/systems relevant to the mining sector.
- Ability to analyze data and assess training effectiveness.
- Strong understanding of mining safety regulations and adult learning principles.
- The candidate must have excellent proficiency in both Afrikaans and English.
- Must be able to communicate clearly and professionally in both languages, both verbally and in writing
- The candidate must be willing and able to perform a roaming function and undertake extensive travel across the African continent to deliver training, conduct assessments and moderation, and verify workplace application of learning at mining operations.
- Flexibility to adapt to different time zones, cultural environments, and local conditions is essential.
