Technical Supervisor/Planner (Underground Mining)

 

About the Role

Job Purpose

The Technical Supervisor/Planner provides technical and safety support to site personnel and where necessary, liaise with senior personnel within the client companies. The Technical Supervisor/Planner must be able to maintain a high level of participation in the safe running of on-site operations.

 

The candidate will be required to operate work tasks and responsibilities in an Underground Mining Operations in Rustenburg – Bathopele Mine site.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Liaise with tyre suppliers with regards to tyre supply and manufacturer warrantees
  • Make recommendations to Project Engineers on any factor affecting tyre performance and costs, or which would enhance the overall performance of the operation (usually via GMR).
  • Ensure that the contract scope of work is performed to a high quality of service.
  • Ensure that quality documents are maintained, filed and archived according to OMS procedures.
  • Ensure that technical standards are implemented and maintained on sites where appropriate.
  • Audit sites for compliance to OMS.
  • Liaise with responsible personnel as required, identifying and reporting any quality related complaints or deficiencies.
  • Provide technical specifications & feedback to the technical manager to ensure that workshop equipment is fit for purpose and meets safety requirements.
  • Perform the following: tool & equipment audits, technical training on tools & equipment, prepare pit reports and monitor equipment calibrations.
  • Provide technical reports, site severity reports and prepare technical presentations as and when required.

 

Qualifications & Experience Required

 

Education, Master, other certification:

  • Grade 12 National Senior Certificate.
  • Bachelor of Engineering degree (preferred).
  • Certificate (Earthmover Tyre Fitting and Stripping) (preferred).
  • Certificate in Risk Management (preferred).

 

Experience (years):

  • Minimum of 4 years Off the Road (OTR) earthmoving experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years supervisor experience (preferred).
  • Broad base workplace safety experience – NOSA certificate accepted only.
  • Experience in an Underground Mine and its operations are essential.

 

Skills:

  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Computer Literacy (MS Office Suite).
  • Sound technical tyre knowledge.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
