Job Purpose
Technical Supervisor / Planner provides technical and safety support to site personnel and where necessary, liaise with senior personnel within the client companies. The Technical Supervisor / Planner will be resourceful, flexible to a changing business environment and its demands and adapt quickly to new circumstances. The Technical Supervisor / Planner must be able to maintain a high level of participation in the safe running of an on-site.

Responsibilities:
- Liaise with tyre suppliers with regards to tyre supply and manufacturer warrantees
- Make recommendations to Project Engineers on any factor affecting tyre performance and costs, or which would enhance the overall performance of the operation (usually via GMR).
- Ensure that the contract scope of work is performed to a high quality of service.
- Taking part in the evaluation of all training procedures and personnel assessments
- Ensure that quality documents are maintained, filed and archived according to OMS procedures.
- Ensure that technical standards are implemented and being maintained on sites where appropriate.
- Audit sites for compliance to the OMS.
- Liaise with responsible personnel as required, identifying and reporting any quality related complaints or deficiencies.
- Ensure that Otraco standards and policies are being maintained and that all employees comply with the procedures as per the OMS.
- Review the statistical and written sections of monthly reports (GMR/SMR’s).
- Provide technical specifications & feedback to the technical manager to ensure that workshop equipment is fit for purpose and meets safety requirements.
- Provide technical reports and site severity reports.
- Prepare technical presentations as and when required.
- Provide technical engineering support for proposed contracts.
- Perform tool & equipment audits.
- Perform technical training on tools & equipment .
- Perform and monitor equipment calibrations.
- Prepare Pit Reports.
- Prepare Weekly Wall Charts.
- Scheduling planned work.
- Asset management – Cerf / Verify / TM17.
- Forecasting (Tyre Requirements).
- Adhere to and make use of the Otraco disciplinary procedure.

Qualifications & Experience Required
- Exceptional communication skills
- Valid driver’s license
- Senior Certificate or equivalent to Grade 12
- Sound technical tyre knowledge
- Must be able to perform without supervision
- Computer literacy with advanced experience in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
Education, Master, other certification:
- Grade 12 National Senior Certificate.
- A valid and appropriate light vehicle driver’s license (South African Code 08).
Experience (years):
- 4 years or more of Off the Road (OTR) earthmoving experience
Skills:
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Advance computer literacy (MS Office, email, data entry).
- Organizational and time management abilities.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Safety:
- Ensure that all personnel work safely and follow Occupational Health and Safety Procedures.
- Ensure that all personnel are properly inducted into the workplace.
- Ensure that all personnel have valid driver’s licenses, medicals and inductions.
- Ensure that all personnel adhere to the site “lock-out” procedure.
- Ensure that all personnel use and maintain personal protective equipment according to procedures.
- Comply with site emergency evacuation procedures.
- Compile safety audits.
- Monitoring and conducting Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), Planned Task Observation (PTO), (SBO) and risk assessments.
- Assist with the investigation of incidents to determine controls to eliminate or reduce the risk of injury or damage to personnel and equipment.
- Review safe work procedures to ensure Otraco site personnel are compliant with technical standards and sound, safe work practices.
- Ensure compliance with all instructions documented in the OMS Safety Plan.
- Promote safe work practices throughout the company.
- Assist with setting safety standards, implementing safety programmes and ensure that all Otraco employees have the systems to maintain safe working practices on each site.
- Accept and adhere to legal appointment.
