ABOUT THE ROLE

Job Purpose

You will establish and maintain an effective overall QMS: By implementing & reviewing QS based on ISO TS & OEM requirements. Conducting internal & external audits. Initiating and analysing corrective & preventive actions.  Identify and initiating QS & basic Health & Safety training. Developing & coordinating the Brits plant document control database / QS on the Bridgestone Intranet & QS administration for the Brits Manufacturing plant / Isando & Durban OE Sales & Warehousing.                                                                                                                                  

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure establishment, implementation & maintenance of an effective Quality Management System 
  • Compile and maintain a documented Quality System in accordance to ISO 9001, ISO TS/16949 & OEM requirements.
  • Ensure Bridgestone standards (TCE & BSJ) are implemented.
  • Ensure Brits Plant Centralised document control system on U:/ drive
  • QMS on Bridgestone Intranet & P:/
  • Co-ordinate effective QMP’s (linkage of FMEA, PM & control plans including OEM requirements.

 

Qs administration

  • Co-ordinate and ensure compliance with Bridgestone Critical record retention & Metro file systems.
  • Ensure record keeping of QS & OEM documentation.
  • Ensure monitoring, downloading, filing  & communication of changes to requirements on the following web sites:
  • International Automotive Oversight Bureau & ISO (Int. Org. For Standardization) & OEM web sites.
  • Co-ordinate certification quotes, invoice & payments.

 

Conduct internal & external audits

  • Plan, schedule & ensure Process, Product & System audits are conducted in accordance to specified requirements. (ISO 9001/ TS/ Bridgestone & OEM)
  • Ensure quality system complies to standards related to DQS & OEM Audit standards.  Spokesperson for QS dep. during external audits.
  • Assist Laboratory Manager with Vendor audits.  Conduct Vendor audits in his / her absence.
  • Delegate audit program, catering for function / transportation for external audits etc.

 

Training

  • Tutor new QS auditors prior to Bridgestone qualification.
  • Identify QS training needs.
  • Compile QS training material & provide training.
  • QS Induction
  • Promote Quality Awareness and Customer requirement throughout the organisation.
  • Auditors qualification matrix.
  • Auditor’s certificates.
  • Member of the training committee meeting.

 

APQP – (PPAP) Product Part Approval Process for all OEM’s

  • Responsible for the compilation of OEM PPAP documents for all new customer product / sizes.
  • Maintenance of OEM system requirements on individual web-sites. (BMW - b2b, Ford - Covisint etc.) & communication thereof  -Monitoring ppm’s, re-qualification audits, bulletins, OEM QS & 8D reports.

 

Analyse and ensure effective corrective actions and QS Management Reviews

  • Liaise with managers regarding internal quality audit recommendations and corrective actions.
  • Liaise DQS, Vendors  & OEM’s regarding recommendations and corrective actions on external audits
  • Identify shortfalls and ensure appropriate countermeasures are introduced pertaining to QTR’s (Misproductions) & QPR’s (Customer Complaints.)
  • Ensure Management reviews according to requirements.
  • Assist in identifying QS departmental goals

 

Chair Disciplinary Hearings

  • Presiding Officer during disciplinary hearings.

 

SHE

  • Appointed chairperson of QS departmental Safety meetings.
  • Ensure SHE meetings & Health & Safety talks are scheduled and conducted and records are kept.  Attend Central SHE Meetings and give feedback on Monthly QS meetings.
  • SHE Management:: ISO 14001:2004 Environmental and OHSAS 18001:2007 Occupational Health & Safety
  • Management Systems.
  • Ensure compliance to applicable Management Procedures and Work Instructions.
  • Conduct Incident / Accident investigations, make recommendations and complete corrective action requests (CAR).
  • Control and inspect applicable Records, Forms and Inspection Register.
  • Conduct SHE Representative Nominations and Elections.
  • Control SHE Representative Inspections.
  • Control applicable machinery and equipment inspections.

 

Qualifications & Experience Required

 

Education, Master, other certification:

  • Diploma in Quality Management / Industrial Engineering or Equivalent
  • Sound knowledge of QMS requirements / Qualified ISO 9001 & ISO TS auditor
  •  

Experience (years):

  • 3 years’ previous experience in Quality (must include experience in QS management, OEM – APQP requirements QS administration and training).

 

Technical Skills:

  • Customer satisfaction: meeting OEM QS requirements, all appropriate management & ISO 9001 & TS/16949 certification.  All employees conducting work that effect quality have the necessary QS competencies and therefore perform work effectively, Management & administration of QMS functions.  Assist in execution of some of the QMS activities, all risks are identified and countermeasures are effectively implemented, the plant adheres to all QMS & departmental Safety requirements. All activities are completed within the planned deadlines.
