ABOUT THE ROLE

 

 

 

Job Purpose

The Maintenance Lead oversees the day to day tasks of the maintenance needs of the specific cell including managing the Progressive Maintenance (PM) in the cell by eliminating maintenance and breakdown related losses. Perform a wide variety of maintenance duties including preventative, progressive, emergency, and routine maintenance and regular inspections.  The Maintenance Lead will also act as a trainer, technical coach, resource, and mentor to cell crew by disseminating technical knowledge among operators.

Responsibilities:

•Eliminating engineering, maintenance, and breakdown related losses (loss elimination)

•Manage maintenance planning, maintenance scheduling and breakdown elimination daily management systems

•Manage the maintenance systems for the specific cell (Management of maintenance Planning & scheduling (MP &S).

•Responsible for building capability in operating teams to deliver overall cell results supporting the Compelling Business Need (CBN)

•Drive breakthrough results in planned and unplanned downtime

•Manage M&R costs for the cell (percentage planned maintenance, percentage planned maintenance completed and breakdown reduction

•Ensures stock control and looks for reducing levels of spare parts and pickings

•Provides process improvements on related processes

•Coach and develop shift teams by serving as technical coach, resource and mentor (Improving operator’s technical knowledge).

•Participate in cell daily direction setting meetings and execution of daily plan

•Develop a time base maintenance system

•Ensure base condition of machines

•Facilitate inspections, manage repairs and defect finding

•Initiate & train operators on autonomous maintenance step 1 to 3 initiated, guide operators to become equipment owners

•Management of the Breakdown Elimination (BDE)

•Track and report maintenance indicator results and in Process measures.

•Develop improvement plans

•Champions and lead the continuous improvement plans

 

 

Qualifications & Experience Required

 

Profile /specification: mechanical, electrical, electronic, chemical.

Technical secondary school

One year as a maintenance technician, leader, shift supervisor, Kaizen specialist, engineer e.g. TS, QA, and EM,IE for 3 years.

Skill in disseminating knowledge

Skill in performing at least one job in the area at the operator’s level.

Experience (years) & Soft/Behavioral Skills:

• 4 to 7 years’ experience in the maintenance field in a manufacturing environment

• Experience and reasonable technical mastery in operations

• Planning, Leading, technichal and Organizing skills

• Communication skills and willingness to interact with shop floor staff

•A  desire  to be in a lead role

• Be a self-starter

• Emphasis on safe work practices

• Troubleshooting and problem solving skills

• Must pay attention to detail

• Time management skills

• Knowledge of production process and quality requirements, AM and PM standards

• Basic PC Skills

• Priority setting

• Communication/training skills
