Summary:

The EMIA procurement vision and corporate E8 initiative establishes the procurement organization as a pivotal part of Bridgestone’s path towards sustainability (“EMIA procurement is your strategic partner in BSEMIA bridging the sourcing of sustainable solutions, compliance new industry certification standards and sustainable innovations”).

Bridgestone takes a broad view of Sustainable Procurement, including commonly discussed environmental aspects such as deforestation and carbon neutrality, along with labor rights, land use, water use and quality, and many other critical elements. Bridgestone focuses on Sustainable Procurement practices to help ensure the Company’s Supplier expectations regarding quality, cost and delivery (QCD) are not achieved with negative impacts on key environmental, social and governance considerations.

To support these activities, we are seeking a passionate and motivated Sustainable Procurement Specialist to join our dynamic team and play a role in driving our commitment to responsible sourcing and sustainable supply chains. In this critical role, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our company by integrating sustainability principles into every aspect of our procurement process.

You will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to integrate sustainability considerations into all aspects of our procurement process, from supplier selection to contract management. This is a dynamic and impactful role that will require you to work cross-functionally with various departments, including procurement, sustainability, environment and R&D.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement sustainable procurement policies and procedures.
  • Conduct research and identify sustainable suppliers that meet our environmental, social, and ethical standards.
  • Evaluate suppliers' sustainability performance based on established criteria.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to integrate sustainability considerations into materials , product design and development.
  • Communicate and train procurement community and suppliers on above topics and supports category management in these activities.
  • Stay up-to-date on emerging trends, best practices and regulations in sustainable procurement.
  • Raise awareness of sustainable procurement practices within the company.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to develop and implement sustainability initiatives.
  • Report on sustainable procurement activities.
  • Communicate external expert partners & thought leaders in CSR/Sustainability/Innovation, including OEM’s, NGO’s and governmental regulators.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in material science, environmental science, supply chain management or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a related field.
  • Demonstrated understanding of sustainable procurement principles and practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and matrix organization.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and other relevant software.
  • Experience with sustainability reporting frameworks and lifecycle assessment (LCA) application into procurement sourcing processes is a plus.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations is a plus.
